Description

The leaves are simple, alternate, and lanceolate to elliptical in shape, dark green glossy above, 21-30 x 3-6 cm, tapering to a fine point, glabrous on both sides (juvenile leaves tomentose), edges wavy, petiole 4-8 mm long. Emerging leaves have a coppery brown pigmentation, changing to light green and eventually dark green. Inflorescence is axillary, racemore or umbelliform, usually with many flowers. Petals are greenish-yellow to pale green, narrow lanceolate, 1-2 cm long, tapering into a fine point, sepals broadly triangular, 2 x 2-3 mm. The fruit is an oval-shaped, fleshy drupe, purple when ripe, about 2-3 cm in length, containing one seed.
