Description
Leaves are alternate, trifoliate, leaflets ovate or lanceolate with smooth margins. The papilionaceous flowers are fragrant, typically lavender, purple or white in color, borne in racemes. Fruit is a flattened, elongated pod, 5-20 cm × 1-5 cm, straight or curved, beaked. Seeds 3‒6, ovoid, laterally compressed, 0.5-1 cm long, white or cream through to light and dark brown, red to black, sometimes mottled; conspicuous white hilum extends around ⅓ of seed circumference.
