Ilex paraguariensis

Description

Bark is smooth, shiny, whitish. Leaves are alternate, ca. 5-10 x 2-5 cm, simple, elliptical in shape, glossy, leathery, apex obtuse, margins serrated. Flowers are clustered in the leaf axils and have 4 white petals, 4 tiny green sepals. Fruit is a globose red berry, 4-5.5 mm in diameter.
