Leaves on petioles up to 30 cm long, are glabrous, trifoliate, with individual leaflets broadly fish-tail shaped. Leaflets fold along the midrib at night.

Flower

Flowers purple, in pseudumbels. Five petals. 

Fruit and seed

Cylindric capsule, glabrous. Seeds small, oval, orange to dark yellow, with 2 longitudinal and several transverse ribs giving seed coat a wavy appearance.
