Growing form

Perennial herb.

Size

50–150 cm high.

Stem

The stem is erect and stout.

Leaf

There are two opposite leaves at the base of the stem. The basal leaves are 6–18 cm long and obovate to elliptic. There are 1–3 narrow hypsophylls further up on the stem.

Root

The root tubers are unbranched.

Flower

The inflorescence is a spike. The flowers are white, zygomorphic, spurred and mostly fragrant at night. The spur is 25–40 mm long, thin and acuminate. The labellum is about 12 mm long, narrow and entire. The halves of the anther are parallel and close to each other.

Fruit and seed

The fruit is a capsule (12-15 mm).
