Size

Stem
The stem is erect and simple.
Leaf
The lowest leaves are long-petiolate. The petiole is alate. The lamina is 5–20 cm long, ovate, rounded or cordate at the base, and obtuse. The upper leaves are sessile, amplexicaul, and the lamina is narrowly deltoid and acute.
Flower
The inflorescence is a 2–7 cm long, dense, stout, erect spike. The perianth is 3–5 mm wide and pink.
Fruit and seed
The fruit is a black-brown, 3.5-4.5 mm long, lustrous achene that quite seldom develops.
