Description

Stems are prostrate or decumbent, branched, rooting at nodes, glabrous or pilose. Leaves are alternate (2-ranked), sessile. Leaf sheath is thin, membranous, long-ciliate at mouth, otherwise glabrous or sparsely villous. Leaf blade is ovate, 3-10 × 1.5-3.2 cm, with 2 longitudinal, silver stripes above, purple below, somewhat fleshy, glabrous or sparsely pilose on both surfaces, base rounded, apex acute or acuminate. Inflorescence consists of a pair of terminal pedunculate cymes, subtended by 2 leaflike bracts. Flowers are almost sessile. Sepals are lanceolateto oblong-lanceolate, ca. 5 × 1.5 mm, basally connate. Petals are pink, ovate, ca. 6 mm, clawed, claws basally connate forming tube, apex obtuse. Stamens are attached to the petals, filaments bearded. Capsules are 3-locular, locules 2-seeded.
