Flower

Flowers bisexual and male, 1-2 cm wide, mostly bright blue, occasionally mauve, bluish-purple or lilac. Form a funnel-shaped spathe.

Fruit and seed

Fruit a pear-shaped capsule with five seeds that sometimes appear sugar-coated. Seeds are 2 mm long, ribbed-rough (rugose) and greyish brown in color.
