Leaf

Stinging hairs. Leaves: opposite at least basally; serrate and/ or deeply toothed and/or lobed; no stipules.

Flower

Bisexual. Flower: 4-7 petals basally fused to a tube; 4-5 free cup-shaped petals; many stamens with long filaments, often fused into conspicuous nectaries; ovary inferior.

Fruit and seed

Fruit a capsule opening by apicoal pores (or longitudinal slits), often with sticky hooked hairs.
