Leaf

Leaves alternate, basal blade with an apical tendril on the midrib, the end of the tendril becomes a lidded pitcher, with nectar glands at the top and digestive glands at the base

Flower

Small and inconspicuous 3-4-merous unisexual flowers in elongate inflorescences (racemes). Male flowers have stamens united into a column, and female flowers have a four-chambered ovary.
