Leaves alternate; simple; entire margin; no stipule; petiole often curved and apex thick; often densely parallel tertiary venation: sometimes gland dots. often leaves dry black or olive.

Flower

3-6 sepals and petals; 6-18 stamens. Bisexual, monoecious or dioecious. Ovary superior or part-inferior.

Fruit and seed

A drupe or a nut, often with a showy persistent calyx.
