Growing form
Perennial, loosely cespitose herb. Often forms carpet-like stands.
Size
15–20 cm high.
Stem
The stem is terete and gray-green. The subterraneous runners are short.
Leaf
The leaves are compressed, 2–4 mm wide, obtuse, compressed and ciliate margin with light colored hairs. The leaf sheaths are closed. The opening of the sheath and the base of the lamina are typically villous.
Flower
The branches of the inflorescence are patent. The inflorescence consists of 2–8 glomerules. The glomerules consists of 4–12 flowers. The pedicels are of different lengths and curved. The tepals are 3–4 mm long, of equal length, brown with pronounced light-colored narrow margin. The anthers are twice as long as the filament.
Fruit and seed
The capsule is 2.5–3 mm long, shorter than the perianth, spherically pyriform, obtuse and rather light-colored. The capsule contains three seeds. The seed is 1.5–1.8 mm long, globose and the length of the elaiosome is about ½ of the length of the seed.
