Growing form

Annual herb.

Size

2–25 cm high.

Stem

The stem is thin, densely pubescent, and typically branched with the proximal branches ascending or decumbent.

Leaf

The leaf arrangement is spiral. The lamina is narrowly lanceolate or obovate, mucronate, simple and with an entire margin. Both sides of the lamina are gray-green or white-gray.

Flower

The capitulescence is dense and globose located at the summit of the stem and branches. It typically consists of 3–10 capitula. There can be individual capitula at the axils of the distal leaves. A capitulum is 3–4 mm long. The phyllaries are imbricate, lanceolate to acute, lustrous and brownish. Ligulate florets are absent. The ray-florets are pistillate, and the disc-florets are bisexual. Florets are yellowish white.

Fruit and seed

The pappus of the achene consists of long, soft, unbranched hairs.
