Annual herb.

Size

5–15 cm high.

Stem

The stem is erect.

Leaf

The leaves are typically opposite. The lower leaves are short-petiolate and serrate. The upper leaves are sessile and pinnatifid. The lamina of both leaves is ovate – lanceolate and covered with glandular hairs.

Flower

The inflorescence is a dense, eventually long raceme. The pedicel is shorter than the bract. The calyx is often zygomorphic and four-lobed or rarely five-lobed. The corolla is 3 mm wide, blue, typically rotate, short-tubular and four-lobed. The lobes are longer than the calyx. There are two stamens in a flower.

Fruit and seed

The capsule is compressed, obreniform, and entirely covered with glandular hairs.
