Growing form

Perennial, stoloniferous herb.

Size

30–100 cm high.

Stem

The stem is ascending, quadrate, glabrous and robust at the base.

Leaf

The leafs and foliaceous stipules are simple and narrow, whorled. A whorl consists of 6–8 leaves. The lamina (10–30mm) is lanceolate-linear or elongate, widest near the apex, often coriaceous to some degree and mucronate.

Flower

The inflorescence is a broad, rather lax compound cyme. The flowers are bisexual and odourless. The corolla is 3–5 mm wide, four-lobed, rotate and white. The calyx is reduced.

Fruit and seed

The fruit (1mm) is a two-sectioned schizocarp. The mericarps are glabrous, brown and not covered with bloom.
