Growing form
Biennial or perennial herb.
Size
15–30 cm high.
Stem
The stem is erect or ascending, rigid, typically branched only in the upper half of the stem, silvery-woolly, and typically reddish at least near the base.
Leaf
The rosette leaves are overwintering. The lamina is five-digitate, densely silvery-tomentose on the abaxial side, glabrate on the adaxial side, and green. The leaflets are short, cuneate, with 5–7 teeth and a revolute margin. The margin of the middle leaflet is entire up to halfway of the margin. The leaflets of the proximal stem leaves have five or seven teeth. The leaflets of the distal leaves have a margin with few teeth or an entire margin.
Flower
The inflorescence is a lax, ample, leafy cyme. The branches are rigid, of different lengths, and the lowest branches do not reach the uppermost branches. The petals are yellow and 4–5 mm long, as long as the sepals. The lowest leaves of the inflorescence are serrate, and the uppermost leaves are entire.
Fruit and seed
The fruit is a short-beaked, light yellow achene.
