Growing form

Shrub that produces root sprouts.

Size

50–200 cm high.

Stem

The stems are biennial, procumbent – arcuate, terete, unarmed or sparsely covered with delicate barbs, glabrous, glaucous, and blue-gray.

Leaf

The lamina is typically trifoliate and typically green beneath.

Flower

The panicle typically consists of ten flowers. The sepals are densely short-pubescent, acuminate and cuspidate. The petals are longer than the sepals, patent, toothed at the apex and white.

Fruit and seed

The fruit is a blackish blue, glaucous compound drupe.
