Growing form

Perennial, succulent-leaved, low herb that forms carpet-like stands.

Size

5–12 cm high.

Stem

The stem is procumbent, and the growth habit is loosely cespitose.

Leaf

The leaf-arrangement is spiral. The leaves are somewhat far apart on the stem. The leaves are 3–6 mm long, cylindrical, widest at the base, and yellowish green or reddish.

Flower

The flowering shoots are ascending and 3–10 cm long. The inflorescence is a cyme with 3–6 flowers. The flowers are bisexual and actinomorphic. The calyx and corolla are five-leaved. The petals are yellow, 6–8 mm long, and twice as long as the sepals.

Fruit and seed

The fruit is a many-seeded follicle.
