Growing form
Biennial or perennial herb.
Size
15–40 cm high.
Stem
The stem is typically simple, terete and scarcely foliate (occasionally many-leaved).
Leaf
The basal leaves are arranged in a rosette, and the cauline leaves are arranged spirally. The rosette leaves are petiolate. The cauline leaves are amplexicaul, elliptic – lanceolate – obovate, nearly entire, glabrous and blue-green.
Flower
The inflorescence is an ebracteate dense raceme. The flowers are bisexual with four sepals and petals. The petals are 1–4 mm long and white. There are six stamens, of which four are long and two are short. The anthers are often dark purple or occasionally light-colored.
Fruit and seed
The fruit is a 6–8 mm long, narrowly obovate, emarginate, alate and many-seeded silicula.
