Growing form
Biennial or perennial herb.
Size
30–60 cm high.
Stem
The stem is erect and angular.
Leaf
The leaf arrangement is spiral. The proximal stem leaves are pinnatisect with 2–5 pairs of lobes and a large terminal lobe. The distal stem leaves are nearly entire and coarsely serrate. The rosette leaves born in late summer are pubescent.
Flower
The inflorescence is a ebracteate raceme. The flowers are bisexual with four sepals and petals. The petals are 6–8 mm long, twice as long as the sepals, and bright yellow. Often, flowers are teratologic and small. The sepals are erect.
Fruit and seed
The fruit is a many-seeded silique. The stalks of the silicles are 4–7 mm long and spreading. The silicles are 1.5–2.5(–3) cm. The beak (consists of the style and stigma of the pistil) is 2–3 mm long.
