Growing form
Perennial herb.
Size
15–60 cm high.
Stem
The stem is erect or ascending, few-branched, glabrous, quadrate, smooth or occasionally slightly scabrous near the base due to obtuse tubercles.
Leaf
The leaves are 1–6 cm long, typically ascending, narrow lanceolate or linear, blue-green, glabrous and single-ribbed. The margin is smooth or occasionally slightly rough.
Flower
The lax inflorescence typically consists 3–13 flowers. The bracts of the inflorescence are hyaline and glabrous. The calyx and corolla are five-leaved. The sepals are 5–7 mm long, with a wide hyaline margin and three-veined. The petals are 6–13 mm long, incised into two lobes, and white. The anthers are 0.8–1.2 mm long.
Fruit and seed
The fruit is an elongate capsule, which is 7–9 mm long and tawny. The seeds are 1.2–1.5 mm long.
