Monitoring scheme observations

Collection description

The study utilised data on Lepidoptera flight periods collected in two long-term monitoring projects coordinated by the Finnish Environment Institute. Of the two, the Finnish national moth monitoring scheme was launched in 1993 and the butterfly monitoring scheme in agricultural landscapes in 1999. A dataset of citizen observations openly available through the Finnish Biodiversity Information Facility was utilised to calculate species range boundary shifts. (en)

Keväällä 1993 aloitettiin SYKE:n koordinoimana valtakunnallinen yöperhosseuranta. Seuranta on osa luonnon monimuotoisuuden tutkimusohjelmaa. Seuraamalla perhosia saadaan nopeasti tietoa luonnossa tapahtuneista muutoksista. Suomen Perhostutkijain Seuran paikalliset perhosharrastajat hoitavat perhosten määrittämisen. Alueelliset ympäristökeskukset vastasivat seurantaverkon valorysien ylläpidosta, viikoittaisesta koennasta ja tietojen tallentamisesta vuoden 2017 loppuun asti. (fi)

Sensitive observation data have undergone obfuscation including spatial aggregation so that precise locations and other sensitive information is not publicly available. The precise location, place names, dates, names of observers and other information may have been obscured or removed. Read more about sensitive observations.

Data may have a research embargo (usually 2–4 years), during which data may have been hidden or obscured as described above. Data producer-owners may have chosen to permanently obfuscate all or part of their data.

To gain access to non-obscured data, you may make a data request. Non-obscured data is also available to Finnish authorities
