Identify species

Here you can browse observations without a species level identification. Click an image to see more information about the observation and a larger image. On the information page you can also suggest an identification. If you feel that based on the image it is not possible to come to a species level identification, you can check the "Unidentifiable" checkbox. When many users say an image is not identifiable, the image will no longer be shown on this page.

Through iNaturalist and Vihko observation services, you can send unidentified observations with photographs for other FinBIF users to identify. Please note that the speed and functionality of the service depends on the activity of volunteer experts.
