Flowers are arranged in up to 30 cm long drooping axillary racemes. Flowers are sweetly fragrant and have four creamy-white 10-15 mm long tepals. Fruit is a hard, woody, globose follicle with a pointed apex containing one or two seeds. The nutshell (endocarp) is the toughest of all nuts.
