Origin and general distribution
Broad-leaved meadow grass is native to Central Europe, from where it was introduced to the Nordic countries, including Sweden and Finland, as grass seed in the 1800s.
It has also migrated to the eastern parts of North America, including Canada, where it is regarded as an intensely invasive alien species.
Broad-leaved meadow grass is infrequent in southern Finland, but usually profuse when present.
The chart shows temporal distribution of the observations, which is not the same as population increase/decrease.
