Origin and general distribution
Tumma rengasmätä on yleinen subtrooppisilla ja trooppisilla alueilla ympäri maailman. Euroopassa sitä esiintyy eniten Välimeren maissa, varsinkin Egyptissä, mutta esiintymiä on tavattu pohjoisempanakin. Suomessa sitä ei ole tavattu.
