Pantterilaikku on sienen aiheuttama kasvitauti. Tartuntalähteitä ovat kylvösiemen, väli-isäntäkasvit ja kasvijäte, mutta sienen itiöt leviävät myös tuulen mukana pitkiä matkoja. Sienen itiöt vaativat itääkseen paljon kosteutta ja voivat tartuttaa kasvin otollisissa oloissa jo vuorokaudessa.
