Origin and general distribution
Tyvitaudit ovat yleisiä erityisesti yksipuolisessa viljanviljelyssä koko maassa. Eri lajien merkitys vaihtelee vuosittain ja alueittain. Bipolaris sorokiniana aiheuttaa tyvi- ja lehtilaikkua erityisesti ohrassa, mutta sitä tavataan muillakin viljoilla ja heinäkasveilla. Muista tyvitaudinaiheuttajista poiketen ohrantyvi- ja lehtilaikku voi aiheuttaa ankaria lehtilaikkuoireita, jotka muistuttavat ohranverkkolaikkua (Pyrenophora teres).
