Origin and general distribution
Taudinaiheuttaja on kuvattu ensimmäisen kerran perunan lehdistä Saksassa 1855 nimellä Fusisporium concors. Suomessa tautia on esiintynyt ainakin 1900-luvun alkuvuosista lähtien Etelä-Suomessa joinakin kesinä hyvin runsaana. Taudin levinneisyyttä ei tiettävästi ole koskaan kartoitettu Suomessa. Keltalaikkuun ei ole kiinnitetty erityistä huomiota, koska se ilmaantuu kasvustoihin samoihin aikoihin kuin perunarutto ja todennäköisesti sekoitetaan perunaruton oireisiin. 2000-luvullakin tautia on löytynyt muutamina vuosina perunapelloilta varsin yleisesti.
