Origin and general distribution
Virus on löydetty kurkulta Iso-Britanniassa 1930-luvulla. Virusta esiintyy Euraasiassa, Intiassa ja Japanissa. Vuonna 1968 esiintyi Suomessa kasvihuonekurkulla epidemia ja sen jälkeen otettiin käyttöön lämpökäsitelty siemen. Yksittäisiä esiintymiä oli Suomessa 1980- ja 1990-luvuilla. Virusta on esiintynyt Suomessa kasvihuoneissa myös 2010-luvulla. Norjassa oli esiintymä 20 vuoden tauon jälkeen vuonna 2007 ja uudelleen vuonna 2010, jolloin viljelijöillä oli huomattavia sadonmenetyksiä kasvihuonekurkulla.
