Origin and general distribution
Except the Siperian chipmunk, the species originated in North America. The Siberian chipmunk has been on the EU list of invasive alien species since 2016. The Siberian chipmunk has been kept as a pet in Finland. Although no other species in the group are known to be had as pets in Finland, there is a risk that the previously banned species would be replaced by a similar species.
The chart shows temporal distribution of the observations, which is not the same as population increase/decrease.
