Origin and general distribution
Hajuvesiteollisuuden raaka-aineeksi viljeltyjä lajeja ovat esimerkiksi Jasminum sambac, Jasminum grandiflorum ja Jasminum auriculatum, jotka kasvavat alkuperäisinä Etelä-Aasiassa, missä niitä myös eniten viljellään. Etelä- ja Keski-Euroopassa puutarhakasvina yleisesti viljelty Jasminum officinale kasvaa alkuperäisenä Keski-Aasiasta Itä-Aasiaan yltävällä alueella.
