Origin and general distribution
Most often, wolfdogs are derived from individuals raised in captivity. In Finland, most of the wolfdogs originate from the United States, where farmed wolves have been used for crossbreeding. Since 2016, it has been prohibited to import a wolfdog into Finland from a member state or from outside of the European Union. Even in the past, a permit was required for the importation of a wolfdog.
The chart shows temporal distribution of the observations, which is not the same as population increase/decrease.
