Esiintyy Suomessa Etelä-, Keski- ja Itä-Suomessa Oulu-Kuusamo-linjan eteläpuolella.

Origin and general distribution

Boreaalisen metsävyöhykkeen laji, jota tavataan Pohjois-Euroopasta Tyynenmerelle levittäytyvällä alueella. Suomi on liito-oravan läntisintä esiintymisaluetta. Euroopassa lajia esiintyy Suomen lisäksi Virossa.
