Impatiens parviflora

Description

Balsams are annual carnose herbaceous plants. Their fruit is a pod-like capsule which bursts open upon maturity and throws the seeds several metres across the surrounding area. Balsams regenerate and spread via the seeds only. However, they produce an abundance of seeds. The best identifier of small balsam is the flowers, which are pale yellow and small (10–15 mm). At 20–50 cm tall, small balsam is slightly smaller than other species of the Balsam family in Finland. The flowers of the native Touch-me-not Balsam are clearly larger, at 30-40 mm, and bright yellow.
