Simple spirally arranged leaves with usually entire margins. Usually with yellowish or black dots or short lines on leaves and flower parts, pellucid in buds. Stamens opposite to petals.

Growing form

Tropical Primulaceae are mostly trees and shrubs, some are herbs or lianas.
