Sisilisko on maailman pohjoisin matelijalaji, joka on levinnyt suurimpaan osaan Eurooppaa. Lajia tavataan koko Suomessa, ja levinneisyys jatkuu Jäämerelle asti. Pohjoisessa sisilisko on harvalukuisempi kuin etelässä, eikä sitä tavata välttämättä kuin lajille suotuisissa elinympäristöissä. Etelä-, ja Keski-Suomessa sisilisko on yleinen, ja sitä voi tavata lähes missä tahansa.
