The taxon is dubious according to Hedenäs (2014) but is included in the Checklist of European bryophytes (Hodgetts 2015; Hodgetts et al. 2020). Specimens in other Finnish herbaria besides OULU have not been checked and even specimens presented here are uncertain. The taxon is thought to have a northern distribution.
