Origin and general distribution
Vaaleakiitäjä pesii Lounais-Euroopasta Lähi-Itään ulottuvalla vyöhykkeellä ja talvehtii Afrikassa. Laji on tavattu vuoden 2019 loppuun mennessä kolme kertaa Suomessa (BirdLife Suomi 2024). Suomen ensihavainto tehtiin Haliaksella 24.10.2004 (Lehikoinen 2005, Lindholm ym. 2006).
