Distribution in Finland
Vielä 1940-luvulla lapamato oli yleinen sisäloinen etenkin itäisessä Suomessa. Nykyään lapamatoinfektioiden määrä on vähentynyt; vuonna 2006 raportoitiin 50 lapamato-tartuntaa. Vesistöissä (kaloissa) on lapamatojen toukkavaiheita paikoittain, mutta loisten määrä on vähentynyt sekä tartuntojen vähennyttyä että ihmisulosteiden ja veden välisten kontktien vähennyttyä.
