Origin and general distribution
Arohiirihaukka on Kaakkois-Euroopan ja Lähi-idän, Luoteis-Afrikan ja Keski-Aasian ruohotasankoja, puoliaavikoita ja vuoristoseutuja asuttava laji. Arohiirihaukka on lähimuuttaja ja osalla levinneisyysaluettaan paikkalintu (BirdLife International 2021).
Suomessa arohiirihaukka on suurharvinaisuus, joka on havaittu maassamme 27 kertaa vuoden 2019 loppuun mennessä. Eniten havaintoja on toukokuulta ja elo-syyskuulta, mutta kesäkuukausilta on myös muutama havainto (BirdLife Suomi 2021). Arohiirihaukka on havaittu Haliaksella kerran, 14.9.2006.
