Accepted name, Mammal Species of the World 2005

Dicotylidae does not have priority over Tayassuidae (Article 40.2,<b> </b>International Code of Zoological Nomenclature; International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, 1999). G. M. Roosmalen (in litt.) is preparing to name a fourth species of peccary from the Amazon basin.
