Reduncinae
Accepted name, Mammal Species of the World 2005
Recent work has suggested that Pelea should be included in the Reduncinae (Gatesy et al., 1997; Hassanin and Douzery, 1999a; Vrba and Schaller, 2000) although Pelea is strongly differentiated from Kobus and Redunca in morphology. Peleinae has priority over Reduncinae but its seniority is not recognised here: inclusion of Pelea in Reduncinae is provisional, Reduncinae is a much more familiar and widely used name, and a proposal will be made to the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature for the conservation of Reduncinae. Reduncini includes Kobus and Redunca; Peleini includes Pelea.
