Reviewed by Garcia-Perea (2002), Yensen and Seymour (2000), and Gray (1867b). Placed in Oreailurus by Cabrera (1940), Weigel (1961), and Hemmer (1978). Later, Cabrera (1958) reconsidered Oreailurus as a subgenus of Felis.
