"Wetzel and Mondolfi (1979) included the Paraguayan paratype of mazzai Yepes, 1933; however, Vizcaíno (1995) included this specimen as a paratype of D. yepesi. Tamayo (1968) said Dasypus undecimcinctus Molina, 1782, was based on a composite of an animal known as ""mulita’ and Cabassous unicinctus. The name undecimcintus Molina is best considered a nomen oblitum."
