Origin and general distribution
Lajeja tunnetaan lähes 1500 ja suvun levinneisyys kattaa lähes koko maapallon, painopiste on kuitenkin pohjoisella pallonpuoliskolla. Euroopasta tunnetaan noin 600 lajia.
