Origin and general distribution
Taudin alkuperäinen levinneisyysalue on Japanissa, josta tauti on levinnyt kaikkialle maailmaan. Euroopassa krysanteeminvalkoruostetta on tavattu lähes joka maassa.
Ranskassa krysanteemin valkoruoste on laajalle levinnyt, ja paikallisia esiintymiä on muun muassa Belgiassa, Tanskassa, Saksassa ja Hollannissa. Suomen viljelmille tauti on päässyt leviämään muutamia kertoja maahan tuotujen krysanteemin pistokkaiden mukana, mutta kaikki esiintymät on saatu torjuttua.
