Noin 25 lajia on levinnyt palearktiselle alueelle. Niiden lisäksi Pohjois-Amerikassa tavataan kolmea lajia. Suku on varsin hyvin edustettu maailman pohjoisilla alueilla, jossa on useita taigavyöhykkeen suolampiin tai kosteikkoihin erikoistuneita lajeja.
