Yleiskuvaus
Stem is up to 12 cm in diameter, usually pubescent, sometimes becoming glabrous. Leaves, including a short petiole, are 2-18 cm long and pinnately compound. Stipules are narrowly triangular, 3-7 mm long, pubescent. Leaflets are in 6-27 pairs, linear, oblong, up to 26 mm x 5 mm, glabrous or almost so above, sometimes pubescent beneath, often pilose at the margins. Petiole, rachis petiolules are pubescent. Stipels are needle-like. Inflorescence is 2-20 flowered, up to 20 cm long, glabrous or sparsely pilose raceme. Peduncle is 8-10 cm, slender. Pedicels are ca. 8 mm, slender. Bracts are linear-lanceolate, early falling. Bracteoles are smaller than bracts, early falling. Flowers are papilionaceous, about 1.5 cm long. Calyxis campanulate, with shortly triangular teeth. Corolla is yellow with purple orbrown streaks, or partly purplish black or red. Fruit (legume) is subcylindrical, straight or slightly curved, up to 20-30 cm x 2-5 mm, often with a brown or reddish-brown blotch over each septum, 10-15 seeded, glabrous, apex beaked, base often with a persistent calyx. Seeds are subcylindrical, 20-40 perpod, 3-4.5 mm x 2 mm x 2 mm, slightly compressed, olive-green or brown, usually mottled.
