The species is collected and reported from Norway (Kolcsar 2023, https://doi.org/10.3390/d15030336). Re-examined Norwegian specimens, collected in 2017 close to Kilpisjärvi, deposited at the Regional Museum of Lapland, also belong to balioptera (originally identified as T. tchukchi Alexander). Tipula tchukchi is apparently not present in the west Palaearctic region.
